The final of the Lucy Davies Scratch knock-out between Kath O'Connor of Tadmarton Heath and Laura Watkins of Bicester was played at Burford on Friday, October 29.

The strong wind made for tricky conditions but both players rose to the challenge with eight holes being halved with pars. 

Kath took an early lead on the second, but Laura immediately fought back to win the third.

Kath's two birdies on the par 4 fifth and par 5 sixth put her two up. But Laura again fought back with a birdie on the par 5 ninth, so that Kath was 1 up at the turn. 

Laura hit trouble on the 10th so Kath regained the advantage, and another birdie on the par 4 13th put her three up.

It was Kath's turn for trouble on the 14th so Laura got one back. They halved the next hole in par 3s and Laura sank a long putt for her par on the 16th green to keep the match alive. 

Kath secured her 3&1 victory on the par 5 17th with a another birdie.

Congratulations to both players for the quality of the golf and to Kath on winning, with commiserations to Laura.
