Captain's Inter-Club TrophyThe semi-finals and final of the Captain's Trophy took place at Rye Hill. Many thanks to Rye Hill for hosting this event at such short notice – it was to be played at Studley Wood but as they qualified a neutral venue had to be found! The morning semi-finals were played between Frilford Heath and The Wychwood, and The Springs and Studley Wood. There were some very close matches particularly between The Springs and Studley Wood. This match went to the final putt, on the final green in the final match with Studley Wood securing the win. The Wychwood beat Frilford Heath to progress to the final. With six holes left to play in second and third matches in the final, Studley Wood were looking clear favourites to win. However, The Wychwood fought back to win the second match to make it one match each. The final match was all square on the 18th tee and looked like it could go down the 19th! However, the Studley Wood players sunk the winning putt and were thrilled to win the Captain's Trophy for the first time. Congratulations to Studley Wood on winning, to The Wychwood for reaching the final, and to The Springs and Frilford Heath on making the semi-finals. Jayne Laurie |
