The County Shield, played at Henley Golf Club on Wednesday, July 21, was greatly affected by the weather.

A sudden, but thankfully short, thunderstorm caught the first few players already out on the course in the morning and delayed the start for the remainder of the field by half an hour.

The lost time was made up by shortening the lunch break, but only the first half of the field managed to complete the afternoon 10 holes before thunder and lightning interrupted play again. This resulted in the afternoon round being abandoned and the results were based on the morning 18 hole scores.

1st: Loretta Tonna (16) and Gabrielle Maxwell-Jones (32) Studley Wood with 42 points

2nd: Justine Voss (4) and Sally Woolven (9) Henley with 38 points

3rd: Annie Gowing (4) and Andrea James (5)Frilford Heath with 36 Points (19 on back 9)

4th: Val Cumming (15) and Fay Ahara (18) Henley with 36 points (17 on back 9)

5th: Jenny Reynolds (14) and Anne Johnson (13) Chipping Norton with 36 points (15 on back 9)
