The final of the Bamberger Trophy was between Carole Avenell from Carswell (12 handicap) and Jenny Keeble from Studley Wood (23 handicap).

The weather was fine and mostly dry but the strong wind made conditions quite testing at times! 

The Green Course at Frilford was in superb condition and both players enjoyed the challenge.

Carole made a strong start, winning the first two holes, but Jenny came back with a fantastic birdie on the third to reduce the deficit to one, and with a half at the par 4 fourth and another win for Jenny at the fifth the match was back to all square.  

The rest of the match was very tight, never more than one hole in it.  The turning point came when Carole holed a long putt to save par on the difficult into-wind 14th, bringing the match back to all square. The 15th was halved and the 16th won by Carole who, having put her approach shot through the back of the green, carded a bogey which was good enough to win the hole and put her one in front going into the last two holes.

The 17th hole was halved, and Carole maintained her one hole advantage going into the last, and with a copybook par 4 won the eighteenth to win the match 2 up.

Well done to both players for getting to the final, and congratulations to Carole on her win.
