TADMARTON WIN CAPTAIN’S INTER-CLUB TROPHY

Close matches and nail biting finishes sums up the semis and final of the OLCGA Captain’s Inter-Club trophy – a team foursomes competition, consisting of three pairs, that has been running throughout the season.

The final matches were held on neutral territory at Witney Lakes Resort when Oxford Ladies took on Chipping Norton and Tadmarton Heath played Burford in the semis. 

Oxford Ladies won the first two matches in their semi-final against Chipping Norton; one on the 18th and one on the first extra hole, with the other match finishing all square on the 18th. 

In the other match Tadmarton won against Burford with two of the matches finishing on the 17th.

The afternoon’s final was closely contended with the third match finishing first when Tadmarton’s Murial Williams and Margaret Moggridge secured a win over Oxford Ladies Anne Clarke and Carol Whittle. 

The second match – Jane Hackett & Sue Fisher, Tadmarton, versus Jan Glover and Rosie Caunt, Oxford Ladies – was all square on the 18th.

The final match between Thelma Mawle & Gwen Phipps (Tadmarton) and Maggie Edwards & Clare Fox from Oxford Ladies also finished all square after 18.

The match went to extra holes for the overall match result with Thelma & Gwen winning on the 19th to give Tadmarton victory and the 2011 Interclub Trophy.
