The County Shield – a 27 hole foursomes stableford – was played at Southfields on Monday, July 18, in windy weather with the odd heavy shower and some tricky pin positions to add to the challenge.

The winners from Oxford Ladies were Maggie Edwards (handicap 13) and Anne Clarke (handicap 17). They played steadily for all 27 holes but a chip in for a birdie on the first at the start of the afternoon nine holes was enough to boost their score to a winning 56 points.

The other prize winners were:
Second: Sue Russell (11) and Sara Alden(16) from Frilford Heath with 53 points on countback
Third: Maggie Findlay (9) and Tracy Roberts (12) from Oxford Ladies (also with 53 point
Fourth: Margaret Chaundy (15) and Fay Banks (13) from Frilford Heath with 50 points.

Best am 18 holes:Wendy Smith (20) and Jenny Keeble (22) from Studey Wood with 34 points
Best pm 9 hole:Judy McCairns (8) and Rosie Caunt (18) from Oxford Ladies with 19 points.
