MID-SILVER CHAMPIONSHIP at BURFORD GC

The Mid-Silver Qualifying competition and match-play knock out rounds for the Mid-Silver Championship title was held alongside the main competition.

On qualifying day Susie Hogben (Drayton) took the honours after recording a gross 87, Joan Broadie (Tadmarton) was close on her heals with a 88 and Pauline Sydenham (North Oxford) one shot behind.

The top 8 players qualified for the knock-out stages namely Susie Hogben (Drayton); Maureen Seward (Frilford), Meg Ashby (Huntercombe), Pauline Sydenham (North Oxford), Sally Adams (Studley Wood), Rhiannon Daviews (Chipping Norton), Susanne Wilson (Drayton) and Jane Tavinor (Waterstock).

The early matches were all closely fought with Maureen Seward winning through to play Meg Ashby in the semis and Sally Adams played Jane Tavinor. 

Meg had a closely contested match but managed to win on the 16th whereas Jane had a convincing 6/5 win over Sally.   

Jane took her steady form into the final and managed to get an early grip on the match, winning 5/4 over Meg Ashby to claim the Mid-Silver championship title.
