CAPTAINS MESSAGE

I am very much looking forward to my second year as Oxfordshire County Captain following an extremely interesting and rewarding 2011.  

The standard of golf in our County continues to improve through our training programmes and a lot of hard work by everyone concerned, and it is especially good to see many of our Junior Girls progressing so well.    

The plans for this year are already in place – training dates are organised with our Head Coach Dusan Gavrilovic and his assistant Rob Watts.  It is very exciting that several Junior Girls will be joining County Squad coaching for the first time in 2012 with a view to their making their Second Team debut.  Preparations are being made for County Week which is being held at Mentmore Golf Club in Buckinghamshire (18th-22nd June).  We will be hoping for lots of supporters to cheer us on – we promise you some fantastic golf to watch in return for your journey!

On the fundraising side of things, we have two competitions this year - the Mixed Open (Tadmarton Heath, 10th May) and the Fundraising Betterball at Frilford Heath on 20th July.  Both days were very popular last year so early entry is advisable.

I enjoyed meeting lots of you last year and am looking forward to seeing even more Oxfordshire ladies playing in the County Competitions in 2012 – thank you very much indeed for your continued support of these and the other events we run throughout the year. 

I would also like to thank everyone who has volunteered or given up their time for the County during the year – we really couldn’t do all this without you and your help is so much appreciated.

We have an excellent Committee, including some new faces in 2012, and with their help I’m looking forward to what, I’m sure, will be another successful year.
