Morning Foursomes
Unfortunately Sam & Tilly lost the first three holes in their morning match which proved to be too tough to get back and were always trailing in their game. They did fight back on several occasions, but in the end lost 3 & 2. Sarah & Lauren however started well and had a very tight match throughout, but lost a couple of holes towards the end which proved costly. Katherine & Jane also had a very tight match but again lost out to their opponents 2 & 1.
Afternoon Singles
Samantha Round was first out as County Champion and had a really good match with Rachel Drummond. It was only at the 17th hole, where Rachel went 2up to win the match 2&1. Tilly Holder also had such a great battle with Holly Small with both players not getting ahead by more than 2up at any one time. Tilly was trailing 1 down playing the last and won the 18th hole to bring the match back to All Square. Katherine O’Connor was third out and always remained in control winning her match 3&2. Jane Binning had a fabulous end to her match against Harriet Beasley trailing 3 down with 3 to play and winning all of the remaining holes to finish All Square. What a come back! Lauren Jupp was playing against Nicole Whitmore and again had such a great close match. Lauren needed a win her match to obtain her County Colours, but couldn’t quite manage it after her opponent holed a 20 foot putt on the last to finish All Square. Last out was Annie Gowing playing Steph Gough and again this match went to the final hole, but on this occasion it was Bucks who managed to sneak ahead on the last and won 1up. The overall result is naturally disappointing, however as the matches were very close it is encouraging for the rest of the week and we look forward to tomorrow’s matches.
