| Oxfordshire's girls claimed the handicap title in the Midlands South team finals at Temple on 4th October. The team of Anna Kirk, Imogen Vessey (both Chipping Norton), and Sunny Ricketts (Burford) won all three matches, defeating Warwickshire in the final. Our girls also reached the scratch team final but sadly, were narrowly defeated (3½ to 2½) by a very strong team from Worcestershire & Herefordshire, some of whom had played at Ladies’ County Week. Nicole du Plessis and Cara Gainer (both Frilford Heath) secured Oxon’s wins, with Abi Laker (Burford) halving her match having only dropped a couple of shots. Gemma Clements (Studley Wood) was only one over par in her match, but her opponent was one under par. The other team members were Sophie Stone (Studley Wood) and Flora McPhail (Frilford Heath) and they too put up a strong fight against tough opposition. |
