County president 2009 - 2011

Dear Oxfordshire Lady Golfer

Another year has flown by and this is the last time I shall write a forward for the County Handbook, as I am now in my final year as County President. I have enjoyed the last two years and realise how pleasurable it has been to spend time with such happy and enthusiastic people.

The hard work with the Juniors is really paying dividends as handicaps are tumbling. Some more girls are now joining the County Second Team Squad. Congratulations to all. We owe a big ‘thank you’ to those who give so much time to Junior Golf, encouraging youngsters into the game we love.

Following the merger between the EGU and EWGA last November we can look forward to some changes to golf in England. How much this will affect both county and club golf remains to be seen. Moving forward into this new era, your Executive Committee is looking to include as much county and club information on the website as possible. Competition entry forms are already available to print off as required and the new ‘Hole in One Board’ is up and running.

We are fortunate to move into 2012 with a full complement of officers. For future years, however, please remember that taking on a County Office can be great fun and very rewarding. Your participation in entering competitions and fundraising events, plus helping with Junior Tournaments, is vital and greatly appreciated. Both the dedication of County Delegates and the support of Club Players at all levels are highly valued by OLCGA. I very much look forward to seeing you in the coming year.

Best wishes,

Joan Broady
