Oxfordshire Ladies County Golf Association Celebrating 100 years

County Match Week Day 1

The Midlands South County Week swung into action at Leamington & County Golf Club today enjoying another fine day of intermittent sunshine but chilly overcast conditions. There was such amazing golf from Oxfordshire which is not necessarily reflected in the results.

Day 1 AM - Northamptonshire

Kate Evans and Amy Boote led the way in the foursomes but were up against stronger opponents and narrowly lost. Sarah Barter & Viki Hart had a very solid foursomes match which went all the way to the 18th. Their opponents holed a 10ft putt to halve the match. As County Champion, Niki Sutton led the way in the singles matches and played beautifully to win 3&2. Millie Anderson was 6 down at one point but fought back with determination and only narrowly lost 1 down on 18. Freya Coughlan just missed out on her first win with a 2&1 loss.

Oxfordshire 1.5 - Northamptonshire 3.5

Day 1 PM - Warwickshire

Caroline Johnson & Sarah Hillas went out first in the foursomes and made it all the way to the 18th, but unfortunately their opponents snatched the win. Niki continued her fine form and paired with Freya Coughlan in the foursomes to win against their opponents 3&2. Viki went out first in the singles and lost 5&3 to Warwickshire’s key player. Kate went out next and had to produce great golf shots to get to the 16th against a very in-form opponent. Millie went out last and fought back from being 2 down to win on the 18.

Oxfordshire 2 - Warwickshire 3
