In April we have had two friendly matches completed, as warm up to County Match Week. Match v Hampshire The match took place at North Hants GC on 24th March and consisted of 2 x Foursomes and 3 x singles. Hampshire are traditionally very strong opposition with the majority of the team being either plus, scratch or low single figure handicaps. This rain-postponed fixture against Hampshire, that should have been played earlier in the year at North Hants, was played in glorious sunshine (at last!) at Henley Golf Club on Saturday 3rd June.  The 1st team started strongly with 4 matches up at the half way point. Unfortunately the stronger fire power of Hampshire, who had lower handicaps than most of the OLCGA squad, won through in the end, gaining them a 4-1 victory. On a soggy and wet day (and golf course) the 1st team kicked off their competitive season with a 5-3 victory over the UK Armed Forces in singles matchplay. It was great to see Megan and Elizabeth fitting seamlessly in to the senior squad and playing really good golf. Elizabeth showed great grit and determination to stay in a match that had gone against her early on. It was a clear but cold day at Frilford Heath where Oxfordshire took on Hampshire in the first friendly match of the season. Lydia Avann (Tadmarton Heath) & Sarah Hillas (Henley) kick started the match in the foursomes however struggled to better their opponents. Our final warm up match before County Match Week was hosted by Hampshire at Basingstoke Golf Club.The Oxfordshire Team as usual battled hard against some tough opponents. Match Report for Oxon v Wiltshire Sat 29th MayFeldon Valley hosted a 1st Team Match vs Wiltshire on Sat 29th May. It was clear during the morning Foursomes that Wiltshire had brought a very strong team. Training at Badgemore.On the 8th May the squad finally enjoyed our first training session with Martin Woodbridge at Badgemore Park. Despite a terrible forecast and heavily laden skies the weather was very kind. 13 members of the squad enjoyed some short game and bunker tips followed by afternoon foursomes. It was great to see the squads competitive edge intact but even better to see lots of smiling faces. It was great to be back :)

Our first training session of the 2020 season at Fridlford Heath G.C. with our new coach Martin Woodbridge. A great start with 13 players turning up for short game coaching followed by foursomes practice. Although it was cold & frosty the sun did appear warming us all up. So nice to see everyone after a long break and now looking forward to the new season.
