Ann Starkey Trophy
October 14 saw the semi/finals of the Ann Starkey Trophy at The Springs. Luckily a bright, dry day welcomed us as did their captain and delegate.
The morning saw Oxford Ladies play Drayton Park and North Oxford play Feldon Valley - well done to all for reaching this stage. The matches were played in great spirit and resulted in victories for North Oxford and Oxford Ladies.
The afternoon saw North Oxford victorious in the first match and had the advantage in the next two, but Oxford Ladies battled hard to win the second match on the 17th with everyone waiting and wondering who had won as they walked in, then the wait for the final pair to appear! A/S going down the 18th and finished that way, so back to the first tee. A nail-biting wait, then we saw them walking back, but it was a victory for Oxford Ladies so they retained the trophy, well done to both teams for making this a great final.
This has been a busy week with all three knockout finals taking place and quite amazing that they all needed an extra hole to get a result, feel sure that has never happened before!
Many thanks to our fantastic competition secretary Trish for her organisation of all of these finals and to The Springs for providing us with a great course and for the catering, many too weary to devour the chocolate brownie and carrot cake!
