On a grey Misty morning the semi finals of the 2021 Captains Trophy began with Feldon Valley taking on Henley and Frilford Heath playing Tadmarton Heath.

There were lots of smiles and laughter on the first tee, the matches were played in a great spirit.

Feldon Valley and Henley were level at 1-1 with the deciding match on the 18th Green. Henley needed to win the 18th hole but could only manage a half so Feldon advanced to the final.

In the other semi final Tadmarton advanced to the final beating Frilford Heath 3-0 although the matches were much closer than the score suggested.

The promised afternoon sun failed to appear as Feldon Valley and Tadmarton teed off in the final. In a very competitive, closely matched game and with the scores level at 1 each the final match worked its way down the 18th as the rest looked on.

A long par 5, Feldon had taken 4 shots and were just short of the green leaving Tadmarton with about 100 yards to go on their 3rd shot. The ball left the club and was hurtling towards the green, it clattered the flag and disappeared for an eagle taking the match to extra holes.

After an agonising wait the players returned and revealed that Tadmarton Heath had won the day on the first extra hole, what an exciting match.

Congratulations Tadmarton for securing a very well deserved victory and Well done to all the teams for making it such a memorable day.
