County Match Week Day 2

Another day of Foursomes and Singles at Leamington & County GC for our squad and the weather is still being kind.

Day 2 AM v Berkshire

Amy & Viki led the way with a convincing performance earning them a 4&3 win. Caroline & Sarah matched that victory in style. In the singles, Niki halved her match and Kate, having led earlier, narrowly lost by 1 hole on the 18th. The icing on the cake for Oxfordshire was a 6&5 victory for Millie which means we won 3.5 to 1.5. Well done to all the squad.

Day 2 PM v Buckinghamshire

This match is always the biggest challenge of the tournament as Bucks are the perennial winners of County Match Week. Oxfordshire are never afraid to battle the odds but today proved difficult for us. Freya & Niki led the charge in the foursomes but lost out 6&4 and Amy & Kate almost grabbed victory only losing by 2 holes in the end. Bucks have many 'best' players and they fielded 3 of them this afternoon in the singles. Millie and Sarah fought so hard but lost 6&5 and 6&4 respectively. However, Buckinghamshire were denied a clean sweep by Viki who played attacking golf to win by 1 hole. This 4-1 win for Bucks means they so far remain unbeaten with 16 points.
