County Match Week Day 3

Day 3 AM - Berkshire
The last day of County Match Week saw Oxfordshire come up against Berkshire in their final match - after two days the counties were very close in points and it was therefore a crucial contest to see who would ultimately fare better in the final table. Once again the foursomes parings of Caroline/Tracy and Kate/Elizabeth led the way - having proved themselves as formidable combinations by winning both matches on Day 2, the two pairings were once again victorious, finishing 1 up and 2 up respectively. The singles players then came up against very stiff opposition - Millie and Megan played some superb golf but lost on the 16th and 15th respectively. The result of the overall match therefore came down to Sarah Barter in the last singles game. Despite going two down early on, Sarah kept her focus and gradually fought back to lead 1 up standing on the 17th tee. With the whole squad supporting from the sidelines she sank a 10 foot put to win the hole, win the game, and ultimately the match for Oxfordshire - well done Sarah!!
Oxfordshire 3 - Berkshire 2
With the exception of the Bucks match, the results of all our matches were very close and provides huge encouragement for future years. Our new squad members (Tracy, Megan, Elizabeth and Mairi) all performed fantastically and first CMW points were won.
Bucks remained unbeaten so will represent the Midlands South Region in the County Finals in September. We wish them well.
