Midlands South 2nd Team v Warwickshire

The final of the South Midlands 2nd team league was hosted by Oxfordshire at Badgemore Park GC
on Thursday 11th August. Another incredibly hot day with amber weather warnings to add to the
challenge!
The 1st and 2nd team play off between Berkshire and Worcestershire & Herefordshire was played
over 36 holes; Foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Berkshire were victorious
reclaiming the silver platter with a 5-4 win over W&H. Charlie Keenan had a hole-in-one on the
13th in the Foursomes and birdied the 18th in the singles to seal the victory
The 3rd vs 4th and 5th vs 6th play off between Bucks and Nhamps and Oxon and Warwickshire
respectively were 18 holes of singles. Nhamps beat Bucks 5-1.
The Oxon matches were all hard fought with excellent wins for Megan and Morag who top-andtailed our team. Unfortunately, despite all the matches being close, Warwickshire closed the other
four matches to their advantage in the final few holes, to claim the victory 4-2
A big thank you to everyone who played in the final and in the league matches this year – we have
a competitive and enthusiastic squad and I have thoroughly enjoyed being their captain
Warwickshire will host the 2nd team final in 2023
