Oxfordshire 1st Team v Tadmarton Heath Men’s Scratch Team – Sunday 25th February 2018

Oxfordshire 1st team arrived at Tadmarton Heath Golf Club for their first match of the season, their annual one against the men. With it being so early in the year the usual weather conditions prevailed, yes, it’s cold, windy and layers required. Even more so this year with the harsher weather conditions we are experiencing.

This year due to sickness and unfortunate availability from squad players we were only able to field 3 pairs of foursomes. The squad consisted of Karen Pollard, Maggie Findlay, Isabel Edwards, Victoria Hart, Julia Tarr and making her 1st team debut, junior Niki Sutton.

County Captain, Karen Pollard and Victoria Hart led the way this. A great match after a slow start from them but lost on the 17th hole. Vice-Captain Maggie Findlay and home player Julia Tarr followed but were un-able to capitalise on her knowledge and they suffered defeat. The final pairing Isabel Edwards and Niki Sutton, making her debut did well, up at points in the match but were not able to keep the momentum going unfortunately and resulted in defeat on the 16th hole.

So unfortunately, my hope of getting an overall win and revenge from years defeat sadly didn’t materialise. I’ll leave that for Maggie to amend next year!

The usual tea and cake followed the match which is always good and enjoyed by everyone.
