President’s Trophy, Congratulations to Frilford Heath Ladies

The semi finals and final of the President’s Trophy were played on the 20th of August at Drayton Park golf club. The club, at very short notice, kindly agreed to host the event, when the original venue, Huntercombe, had to be abandoned. The reason being Huntercombe Ladies won their way through to the final day.

Drayton Park gave us a great welcome, and my thanks to the manager Steve, Lady Capt. Mary and immediate Past Capt. Pat for being there so early in the morning to help with the arrangements for the day.

In the semi-finals Henley ladies, winners for the last two years, and hoping to make it a hat trick, met Frilford Heath ladies. Annie Gowing and Kate Evans beat Janet Lawson and Sarah Hillas in the first match and the second match was also won by Frilford Heath’s Angela Reeves and Niki Sutton putting Frilford Heath through into the final.

In the other semi final Cotswold Club were up against Huntercombe. In the first match Rhiannon Davies and Jenny Reynolds, Cotswold Club, ran up a win over Juliet Baxter and Sarah Whittaker, The last match looked in the bag for Aafhe Oldridge and Tina Dresher of Huntercombe until Pam Maynard and Sheila Jones put on a fantastic spurt to take the match to the 19th hole where they took the win for Cotswold Club.

After a good lunch the final between Cotswold Club and Frilford Heath took place. Both teams put up a valiant fight with Frilford Heath emerging as the winners for 2018. Congratulations to Frilford Heath ladies and well done to Cotswold Club for reaching the final.
