Record numbers contest County Shield at Frilford Heath, Drayton Park pair champions

OLCGA County Shield Competition
July 29th 2026, Frilford Heath Golf Club
A record number of 52 golfers (26 pairs) participated in this year’s County Shield Competition at Frilford Heath Golf Course on a very hot July day. This Foursomes Stableford competition ran over 18 holes of the Red Course in the morning, before a welcome buffet lunch in the air-conditioned Taylor Room at the Club before tackling the front 9 holes again in the heat of the afternoon, for a total of 27 holes.
The results over 27 holes were:
Winners: Susie Hogben and Lynne Tattersall (above) of Drayton Park with 64 points – winning the County Shield and a £50 M&S voucher each
2nd place: Clare Fox and Maggie Edwards of Oxford Ladies with 61 points - £40 M&S voucher each
3rd Place: Sarah Webb and Sally Adams of Frilford Heath with 59 points - £30 M&S voucher each

The winners of the second round 9 holes with 23 points (on countback) were:
Sarah Black and Raffaella McCann (below) of Frilford Heath - £20 M&S voucher each.
Many thanks to the ladies who participated in the ball sweep which raised a total of £126 for Frilford’s Charity for 2026 – Young Carers.
HUGE thanks to the Greenkeeping, Pro shop and Catering team at Frilford Heath for providing us with a course that was in tiptop condition despite the drought conditions and for their professional, helpful and friendly assistance over three days.
Many thanks also to Frilford members Roberta Miles, Maureen, Tony and Kim le Manquais for assisting me with logistics and scoring on the day.
And final thanks to our President, Christine Bishop, who valiantly stood in the searing heat for a total of 3 hours as Starter for both rounds of the Competition!
