1st team victory vs Wiltshire @ Henley Golf Club Sunday 7th May

The 1st team pulled off a resounding victory, and their second win of the season, against Wiltshire County on Sunday 7th May at Henley Golf Club. The scores were level after the morning foursomes with the new pairing of Kate Evans and Mairi Weir bringing in a winning point. The sun came out in the afternoon for the singles and OLCGA won 4 out of the 6 matches against stiff competition. Thank you for all of the support both in person and on-line - the team really appreciates it!

Despite heavy overnight rain, day 2 of the Bronze Championships saw the four semi-finalists play in the morning. The course, at Studley Wood, held up well with the sun shining through for the final match in the afternoon. This proved to be a close fought match with Julie Wong holding on to win the final against Madeleine Deller. Congratulations to Julie on her winning her first major cup.

Day 1 of the Bronze Championships was held today at Studley Wood golf course. Sunny day but still some soggy conditions after overnight rain made it a challenge for all.Match play pairings for Friday have Madeleine Deller v Fiona Ives and Brenda Stevens v Julie Wong. First tee off is at 9.30am. The winners play in a final match at 2.20pm.The Bronze Medal for the Best Nett was won by Fiona Ives.

County and Mid-silver Championships

After two keenly fought days of golf, we have made it to day 3 of the County and Mid-silver Championships. The semi-finals are underway: For the county championship we have: Kate Evans vs Millie Anderson and Elizabeth Ball vs Megan Bishop For the Mid-silver: Sue Stewart vs Fays Banks and Jill Purdy vs Penny Kendall The winners play in the finals, this afternoon at 14.20 and 14.30

Megan Bishop is our 2023 County Champion

Kate Evans and Megan Bishop played some amazing golf to win their semi-final matches in the County Championship. In the Mid-silver semis, Fay Banks and Penny Kendall emerged victorious both managing to chip in on their 1st extra holes!  The finals were closely contested with Megan Bishop becoming a worthy County Champion and Fay Banks winning the Mid-silver Championship.

On a soggy and wet day (and golf course) the 1st team kicked off their competitive season with a 5-3 victory over the UK Armed Forces in singles matchplay. It was great to see Megan and Elizabeth fitting seamlessly in to the senior squad and playing really good golf. Sunday the 19th of March saw the 8th annual match between Oxfordshire County Junior girls and Kirtlington and Tadmarton boys, held at Tadmarton GC this year.
